Leila Zaynab Zarine Tehrani (bron 22 May 1989) is a Swedish television presenter, comedian, and former YouTube personality. She is best known for being the backstage host of the Eurovision Song Contest: Stockholm and for hosting Svensksong 1.

Life and careerEdit

Early lifeEdit

Tehrani was born on 22 May 1989 in Malmö. Her father, Ebrahim, is from Iran, while her mother, Anna, is Swedish of half-Iranian descent. Ebrahim works as a butcher, while Anna is a primary school teacher. She has two younger brothers, and was raised speaking both Persian and Swedish.

After graduating from compulsory school in 2005, Tehrani began attending upper secondary school, where she studied journalism and media. She graduated in 2008, and enrolled in Malmö University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism in 2011.


Tehrani began her career as a YouTuber, when she began posting weekly vlogs of her life as a university student. Her YouTube channel gradually began growing, and she had over 50,000 subscribers by 2010. After graduating from university in 2011, she began devoting her time to her YouTube channel, and incorporated new features such as sketch comedy.

Tehrani began working as a host for Sveriges Television (SVT) in 2012, when she hosted that year's edition of Musikhjälpen. She also went on to host other events such as the Grammis and the annual Christmas Eve program.

She is arguably best-known for hosting Svensksong 1 and for being the backstage host of the Eurovision Song Contest: Stockholm.

Personal lifeEdit

Despite being raised as a Muslim, Tehrani has stated that she no longer practices the religion but still "[identifies] with Muslim culture". She moved to Stockholm in 2011.
