Goonmock is a Norwegian band from Trondheim. The band consists of lead vocalist Kurt Nilsen, lead guitarist Mads Fjelde, rhythm guitarist Magnus Kristiansen, bassist Per Engelstad, keyboardist Valentin Waadeland, and drummer Jørgen Dokken. They competed in Norsksong 1 with the song "Underground".
Goonmock was first formed in 1995 in Trondheim. Lead singer Kurt Nilsen was attending music school at the time, and formed the band with his cousin, bassist Per Engelstad. Nilsen recruited his friends Mads Fjelde and Magnus Kristiansen to join the band, while Engelstad got his friends Valentin Waadeland and Jørgen Dokken to join. Originally they sparsely performed, but after graduating from music school in 1996, they began to make the band a number-one priority.
They were signed to Sony Music Norway in 2000, and subsequently moved to Oslo to write and record for their debut studio album. The first studio album, Resolution, was released in 2002. It was a modest success in Norway. They went on to release other albums in 2004, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2013, and 2017.
In 2017, they were confirmed to be taking part in Norsksong 1, with the song "Underground". They qualified for the superfinal, and ended up placing third.
