Finland will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest: Stockholm, with the song "Don't Break My Heart" by Ingrid Helander. The Finnish broadcaster Yleisradio Oy (Yle) organized the national final SuomenLaulu 1 in order to select the Finnish entrant for the contest in Stockholm.
SuomenLaulu 1 was the first-ever edition of SuomenLaulu, the national final to select Finland's representative in the Eurovision Song Contest.
SuomenLaulu 1 consisted of a one-night final. In the final, ten songs competed. After every song was performed, a voting window was opened. After the close of the voting window, international juries voted for their favorite songs, while the results of the Finnish public was revealed, resulting in a winner. The show was hosted by Kristiina Kilpeläinen and Oliver Dahl.
Yle opened the submissions window for interested artists and composers from August to December. All artists must have held Finnish citizenship or permanent residence, while at least one member of the songwriting team must have held Finnish citizenship or permanent residence. Yle also noted that they were looking for upcoming, debuting, or unsigned artists to compete. The 10 competing artists and their songs were revealed on 5 January, following a press conference.
