Erik Nicholas Andersson (born 7 January 1980) is a Swedish comedian, television presenter, and actor. He is best known for hosting the Eurovision Song Contest: Stockholm.
Life and careerEdit
Andersson was born on 7 January 1980 in Halmstad, to a Swedish father and a Polish mother. His father, Ralf, works in finance, while his mother, Alicija, works as a psychiatrist. Alicija came to Sweden at age 18 for her studies, and later met and married Ralf. Andersson has one older sister.
Andersson graduated from compulsory education in 1996, and later attended a performing arts magnet school, which he graduated from in 1999. After graduating, he moved to Stockholm to pursue a career in entertainment.
After arriving in Stockholm, Andersson began to perform standup routines at comedy clubs, while he also worked as a waiter at a café to support himself. In 2005, he received management, and began being able to support himself through solely entertainment work.
After receiving management, Andersson began working with Sveriges Television (SVT) as a television host and comedic actor, appearing in sitcoms and hosting programs such as Musikhjälpen. In 2010, he received his own late night talk show, titled Tusen och en natt med Erik ("A thousand and one nights with Erik"). On the SVT-broadcast show, he held interviews with Swedish celebrities in addition to hosting comedic sketches. The show won "Best Late Night Show" at the Kristallen Awards in 2012, 2013, and 2015.
He is arguably best-known for hosting the Eurovision Song Contest: Stockholm.
Andersson married Serbian-Swedish dancer Anamarija Teodorovic in 2013. They have a pair of fraternal twins together; Shannon Isabella Andersson and Robert Nicholas Andersson (born 17 July 2015). The family resides in Stockholm.
